Diagnosing SSR Single Group

Tools Needed: Voltage meter

Remove cup tray and back panel of the machine, being aware of the ribbon cable attached to the control board. Leave the ribbon cable attached and lean the back panel on the machine giving you access to all the components.

Locate the relays in the center of the control board, pull the connectors off slightly, but leave them connected. This gives you access to the spades on the relay.

First we want to check if we have DC voltage going to the SSR. One probe on each side of the low voltage. Low voltage is designated by a red and black wire that is a small gauge.

Next we need to check if the high voltage is getting through the relay. Test each side of the high voltage relay to ground. The right side of the relay is the power coming into the machine, it should have 120v all the time. With the machine calling for heat, colon lit up next to the element you're testing, you should see voltage on both sides. With one probe on the spade of the relay and the other probe to ground.
