Replacing Group Head Gasket - Universal


Replacing Group Head Gasket



Objective:
Replace group head gasket per Slayer's recommended Preventative Maintenance schedule. All Slayer espresso machines and preventative maintenance kits feature 58mm x 6.1mm EPDM group head gaskets.

Parts:
  1. 46000-56091 PORTAFILTER GASKET
Tools:
  1. 45 or 90 Pick
  2. Flathead Stubby Screw Driver
  3. Portafilter 
Step 1:
  1. Remove dispersion screw and screen.


Step 2:
  1. Using a pick, remove old group head gasket.
Gasket may be stiff and brittle if maintenance is overdue!



Step 3:
  1. Clean group head with scrubber brush.
  2. Install new gasket with the flat edge orientated in the UP position.
    1. In the image below, the visible part of the gasket presses up and into the group head.


Portafilter basket is designed to contact tapered edge of gasket.



Step 4:
  1. Once installed. Press gasket into place and engage one ear of a portafilter into the group and rotate counter clockwise to seat the gasket.
  2. Repeat on other ear.


Step 5:
  1. Verify gasket is seated correctly by inserting a blank portafilter and activating the group.
