Objective:
  1. Update Espresso Single Group (Classic) machines to utilize an Eltek transducer.
  2. Honeywell transducers have been phased out and are no longer supported or offered as a spare part.
Info
Retrofit for Espresso Single Group (Classic) built before 2020 requires specific Eltek transducer. Current Espresso Single Group and Steam Eltek transducers (99005-17010) are not compatible.

Time:
  1. 30 minutes
Parts:
  1. 86004-17020 Transducer Replacement Kit, E1 Classic

Tools:
  1. #2 Philips Head Screw Driver
  2. 1/2" Wrench
Step 1:
  1. Turn off machine and depressurize steam tank.
  2. Verify all parts are on hand upon arrival of the transducer retrofit kit.
Step 2:
  1. Remove cup tray and rear panel to expose transducer and electronics.
  2. Unplug old transducer from board and feed it through the gap in electronics shield.

Step 3:
  1. Use a 1/2" wrench to remove the copper line and transducer from steam tank.
Step 4:
  1. Feed the new transducer cable through the heat shield gap. Attach the Molex to the transducer port on the board.

    Idea
Tip: Make sure to route the cable so it doesn't rest against the steam tank. Feed the cable behind the pump hose and tuck it neatly.
Step 4:
  1. Install assembled copper line to fitting on steam tank. Finger-tight with an additional 1/4 turn with a wrench.
Info
Tighten compression fittings appropriately: Finger tight followed by a quarter turn with correct wrench. If more tightening is necessary, proceed with small incremental turns.
  1. Attach wire to the transducer and zip-tie it against the panel.

Step 4:
  1. Turn on machine. Verify ball valve drains are closed.
  2. Allow autofill cycle to complete.
  3. Run water through groups to confirm brew group saturation.
  4. Allow heating cycle to complete and check for leaks once pressurized. Tighten compression fittings if needed.
