Objective:
Replace OLED displays on SLAYER Steam X, LP, & EP machines. OLED displays are assembled within the upper display panel or 'hood.' Please review the guide below for the correct way to install replacement OLED displays.

Idea
Steam Displays are often replaced during firmware updates which include the Display OFF feature. Display OFF significant extends OLED lifespan.
  1. Fading OLED Display
  2. SLAYER Steam Firmware Update
Parts:
30005-60110 OLED DISPLAY ASSEMBLY, SLAYER STEAM

Tools:
#2 Philips Screwdriver

Warning
NEVER incorrectly connect display ribbon cable on main circuit board. CN40 is the ONLY compatible port.

Step 1 - Access OLED:
Info
This guide is demonstrated on a Steam EP which features one display. Steam X & LP feature one display per group head. The concept for accessing each display is the same however there is a ribbon cable jumper which daisy chains each display together on the latter models.
  1. Turn machine OFF prior to service.
  2. Remove the top polished screws.

  1. Remove rear display screws.
    1. Steam X & LP include one or two additional, central, screws depending on group number.

Step 2 - Remove OLED
  1. Unscrew the top philips head screws (orange circles) securing OLED to display bracket.
    1. DO NOT  unplug ribbon cables or unscrew bottom OLED screws at this time.
    2. In rare cases it may be necessary to loosen bottom screws.

Alert
The next step can be tricky. Use caution and patience.
  1. Slide OLED directly 'up and out' of bottom two philips screws.
    1. The bottom screws are not fully tightened (from factory).
  2. OLED's circuit board has a crescent shaped slot (pink rectangle).
    1. Keep this in mind when installing new OLEDs. Crescent side 'down.'
  1. Once OLED is removed from display panel. Unplug ribbon cables.
    1. Encoder Knob - CN1 (Red)
    2. Main Ribbon Cable from Circuit Board - CN4
    3. Jumper Ribbon Cable - CN3 (Steam X & LP)

Step 3 - Reinstall OLED Displays:
Alert
Prior to installing new displays. Verify dip switches are set correctly. Incorrectly set dip switches will cause displays to mimic each other and respond to inputs from other groups. Accidently installing OLEDs with incorrectly set dip switches will not damage machine.
Example:
Group 1 is always the 'main' display. The main display allows access to the Advanced Menu.
  1. Starting with the group 1 OLED.
    1. SW 1 to ON.
    2. Leave remaining 3 OFF.
  2. Group 2:
    1. SW 2 to ON
    2. Remaining 1, 3, and 4 OFF
  3. Group 3:
    1. SW 3 to ON
    2. Remaining 1, 2, and 4 OFF.

Image indicates switch one is in the ON position. Remaining three are OFF - Steam EP.
  1. Follow guide in reverse order to install new OLED displays.
  2. Reminder! OLED snaps into place via crescent shaped circuit board on the two fixed, bottom, philips head screws.

WarningNEVER incorrectly connect display ribbon cable on main circuit board. CN40 is the ONLY compatible port.
