Eltek Transducer Retrofit - Steam Series

Technician's retrofit guide for Slayer Steam Series.



Slayer recommends that all service be performed by an experienced Slayer Espresso trained technician. 


Objective:
Update legacy Steam Series machines to current Eltek transducer assembly, firmware, and appropriate hardware. Retrofit requires firmware version SteamX 1.05 or newer. 

If your Slayer Steam is not operating off the current firmware (SteamX 1.07) or is utilizing a Honeywell transducer, please contact Slayer's Customer Service team at orders@slayerespresso.com to begin the update process.

Step 1:
  1. Turn off machine and depressurize steam tank.
  2. Verify all parts are on hand upon arrival of the transducer retrofit kit.
Step 2:
  1. Remove cup tray, right side, and rear panels to expose transducer and electronics assembly.
  2. Unplug old transducer from board, CN30, followed by removing copper line and assembly from steam tank.
Step 3:
  1. Attach Etlek Serto compression, 12mm, to copper tube.
  2. Install assembled copper line to fitting on steam tank. Orientation of copper line detailed in image below.

Tighten compression fittings appropriately: Finger tight followed by a quarter turn with correct wrench. If more tightening is necessary, proceed with small incremental turns.
  1. Connect and route RAST cable to transducer and port, CN30, on board.
Step 4:
  1. Turn on machine. Verify ball valve drains are closed and high voltage breaker is OFF.
  2. Allow autofill cycle to complete.
  3. Run water through groups to confirm brew group saturation.
  4. Enter menu and scroll to setting Max Pressure. Confirm setting is set to correct hardware:
    1. Eltek - 2 BAR
    2. Honeywell - 100 PSI
  5. Switch ON heating elements. Machine will begin to heat and reach operating steam pressure in 15-20 minutes.
