Pump Adjustment (Rotary Vane) - Single Group

Pump Adjustment (Rotary Vane) - Single Group

Espresso & Steam Single Group Pump Adjustment
(Rotary Vane)

Objective:
Adjust pump on Espresso & Steam Single Groups featuring a 24vDC rotary vane pump via the adjustable bypass screw. Adjusting pump to 10 bars with a blank portafilter results in 9 bars at the group during coffee extraction.

Idea
SLAYER recommends adjusting the pump upon install and calibrating during bi-and-annual Preventative Maintenance.

Info
The brew gauge on SLAYER Espresso Single, Steam Single, and Espresso V3 reads live brew circuit pressure. For more information regarding brew gauge characteristics. Please review the Brew Gauge Guide.
  1. Steam Single: Switch Mode to <Manual>.
  2. Dispense five (5) seconds of clear water through group to rinse brew circuit.
  3. Engage blank portafilter in group head.
  4. Actuate group to Full-Brew, far left position.
    1. Confirm incremental pump adjustments between 5~10 seconds.
    2. Allowing group to run continuously during adjustment process can cause inaccurate results.
Pump adjustment is demonstrated on the Steam Single. Concept and steps apply to Espresso Single group as well!
  1. Observe brew gauge pressure reading:
    1. If gauge is below 10 bars - tighten pump by-pass screw to INCREASE pressure.
    2. If gauge is above 10 bars - loosen pump by-pass screw to DESCREASE pressure.

Idea
For each adjustment, large or small, remove blank portafilter from group and actuate brew group to relieve brew circuit pressure. This will allow for accurate adjustments.
