Objective:
Remove inlet (autofill) assembly to clean debris preventing solenoid closure.

Symptoms:
  1. Wet steam.
  2. Water leaking through vacuum breaker / pressure relief valve.
  3. Steam tank not heating.
  4. Hot water dispenser and steam wands not functioning.
  5. Steam tank over pressure.
  6. AL2 or AL2 error.
    1. Steam Series Error Code Identification
Common Causes:
  1. Scale from poor water quality.
    1. SLAYER Water Treatment Requirements
  2. Debris from water main.
  3. Particles from improperly flushed filters.
It is recommended during installation or service of water lines to avoid contact with any surface that may adhere debris to water line.
Time:
  1. 45 mins
Parts:
  1. 99015-10080 Steam Fill Assy, Steam LP/EP
Tools:
  1. Vice Grips
  2. 8" Crescent Wrench
  3. 9/16" 1/2" 7/16" Wrenches
  4. 3mm Hex Wrench (Legacy solenoid valve.)
  5. #2 Philips Screw Driver
Step 1:
  1. Turn OFF heating elements in Advanced Menu.
  2. Power OFF machine and turn OFF incoming water.
  3. Remove cup tray, drain steam tank, and remove left side panel.
Clamp any vent tubing to prevent steam discharge from drain bar. Fully opening drain valve can cause drain circuit to flood and possible injury due to sudden release of steam.

Step 2:
  1. Identify autofill solenoid.
  2. Unscrew 9/16" locknut.
  3. Brace intake side fitting with 7/16" wrench and remove inlet copper line with a 1/2" wrench.
  4. Loosen steam tank inlet fitting with a 1/2" to rotate assembly allowing removal of solenoid and providing additional access to fitting.
An offset 1/2" wrench is helpful during this step.

Step 3:
  1. Once assembly is removed from machine.
  2. Vice grip valve body and loosen solenoid piston with a crescent wrench.
Depending on model of inlet solenoid; remove flange solenoid piston from valve base using a 3mm hex wrench.

Step 4:
  1. Inspect for debris.
  2. Clean and rinse plunger, piston, and body.
  3. Clear remaining water with compressed air to ensure any obstructions have been removed.

Step 5:
  1. Reassemble and install autofill solenoid.
  2. Close drain valve.
  3. Turn ON water, check for leaks, and power on machine.
  4. Once steam tank has filled, actuate brew group for 10 seconds, and turn ON heating elements in display menu settings.
In this step be careful not to overtighten compression fittings!
