PID or Proportional–Integral–Derivative controller (PID controller or three term controller) is a control loop feedback mechanism widely used in industrial control systems and a variety of other applications requiring continuously modulated control.

The Fuji PID controls brew tank heating on the Espresso V3.

Error Codes & Symptoms:
  1. UUUU - Brew tank RTD disconnected.
    1. Check molex connection on the RTD and the wire to the PID.
    2. Tug test, reconnect the molex.
    3. Check continuity from the PID to the molex.
    4. Check the wiring of the PID. Review wiring image below.
      1. Wire colors may differ depending on serial number.
      2. Confirm component connections.

  2. LLLL - Short circuit across red and white wires on brew tank RTD.
    1. Possible water dripping onto the PID.
    2. Same tests as above.
Alert
Brew tank will not heat while error is present.

Common Causes:
A short in the PID. Check for water damage, drips, or evidence of short. You can remove the back of the PID and inspect the pins inside the connector of the PID.
Warning
PID's most commonly fail when the 3-way brew solenoid valve's discharge tubing is not replaced during annual maintenance.
Service:
To remove the electrical terminal. Use a small flathead screw driver to press into the wing clips on either side of wire terminal.

AlertWhen reinstalling PID. SLAYER recommends a generous heat shrink sleeve or electrical tape to protect the wiring connections from damage.
